"The procedure for teacher certification will be revised" - Minister of Education of Kazakhstan
After the mass dissatisfaction of Kazakhstani teachers with the results of the certification, the Minister of Education acknowledged the errors and shortcomings and announced that the rules for the certification of teachers would be reviewed.
Earlier, teachers in the East Kazakhstan region publicly complained about the results of the certification.
According to official data, about 200 teachers in the region failed certification this year. According to the teachers, the sharp change in assessment criteria and the imposed requirement for "development of the author's program" were difficult to fulfill both logically and practically.
According to the rules in Kazakhstan, if teachers' categories are lowered, their salaries will be reduced, and they will have to return the allowances received over the past three months to the state. Many teachers expressed their intention to appeal to the court against the ministry after failing certification.
Then, taking into account these objections, the Minister of Education of Kazakhstan, Zhuldyz Suleimenova, announced that the procedure for the certification of teachers will be reviewed in order to protect and support teachers.
According to him, in order to protect and support teachers, amendments are currently being made to the Law "On the Status of Teachers." The Ministry is considering the revision of the rules for teacher certification, taking into account the proposals of teachers.
"One of the most pressing topics is the development of author's educational programs by teachers," said Zhuldiz Suleimenova.
Teachers also put forward a proposal to automatically assign a qualification category to teachers who have completed their master's degree, but the minister did not support this initiative.
"It is necessary to assess the qualifications of teachers in the general secondary education system based on their professional skills and the quality of education," said Zhuldiz Suleimenova.
According to the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan, about 600 thousand teachers are currently working in the education system. It is noted that many proposals for improving the rules of certification continue to be received from teachers.
It should be recalled that earlier in Uzbekistan, a group of teachers were dissatisfied with the results of the certification and sent an appeal to the minister and the presidential administration. In addition, teachers have repeatedly sued the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.
