The Ministry of Preschool and School Education held a ceremony of awarding students and their teachers who won international and regional science Olympiads during the 2023-2024 academic year at the specialized school named after Abu Ali ibn Sino in the capital.


The event was attended by the Minister of Preschool and School Education Hilola Umarova, the winners of the Olympiad, their parents and teachers, as well as the editors of xalqtaliminfo.uz.


It was noted at the event that in the 2023/2024 academic year, schoolchildren won a total of 122 medals at international science Olympiads, which is the highest result so far.


Among them are prestigious international Olympiads recognized by many countries around the world and international higher education institutions.


This year, Uzbek students have won 11 medals (1 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze) in the most prestigious international Olympiads, in particular:


87 countries in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (340 students) at the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad - 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze;


At the 65th International Mathematics Olympiad in Bath, Great Britain, with the participation of 110 countries (600 students) - 2 silver, 3 bronze;


At the 54th International Physics Olympiad in Isfahan, Iran, with the participation of 46 countries (230 students) - 1 bronze;


At the 36th International Olympiad on Informatics, held in Alexandria, Egypt, with the participation of 91 countries (362 students), - 1 bronze, as well as 61 (10 gold, 15 silver, and 36 bronze) medals at regional international olympiads. Also:


5 (3 silver and 2 bronze) at the 20th International Youth Natural Sciences Olympiad in Bangkok, Thailand;


14 (2 gold, 3 silver and 9 bronze) at the 20th International Jautikov Olympiad in Almaty, Kazakhstan;


4 (1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze) at the 9th Caucasian International Mathematical Olympiad in Adygea, Russia;


5 (1 silver and 4 bronze) at the 58th International Mendeleyev Olympiad in Shenzhen, China;


5 (2 silver and 3 bronze) at the 41st Balkan Mathematics Olympiad in Varna, Bulgaria;


1 bronze at the Asian-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) held in Hangzhou, China;


7 bronzes at the Asian-Pacific Mathematics Olympiad (APMO) held in Brazil (online);


12 (3 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze) at the Abu Ali ibn Sina International Biology Olympiad held in Bukhara;


6 (3 silver and 3 bronze) at the 28th Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (BOMO) among juniors held in Antalya, Turkey;


18 (3 gold, 4 silver and 11 bronze) at the International Mathematical Competition (IMC) held in India;


1 gold medal at the International German Olympiad held in Germany;


1 bronze at the International Economic Olympiad held in China;


One bronze medal was won at the European Girls International IT Olympiad (EGOI) held in Iran.

It was noted that according to Presidential Decree No. 346 of September 30, 2024, young people of Uzbekistan, who won 91 (11 gold, 24 silver and 56 bronze) medals at the international Olympiads this year, were awarded with cash prizes of various levels.


In particular, for medals at the most prestigious international Olympiads:


gold medalist - 187.5 million soums, teacher - 168.75 million soums;


silver medalist - 112.5 million soums, teacher - 93.75 million soums;


bronze medalist - 75 million soums, teacher - 56.25 million soums were allocated.


For reference: the medal holders will be admitted to higher educational institutions on the basis of a state grant, and their teachers will be admitted for the next academic year


A bonus of up to 200% is established and a higher qualification category is directly provided.


In addition, the winners of prestigious international Olympiads will receive a 150% monthly bonus to their official salary if they teach the subject they won as teachers in educational institutions.


At the award ceremony, international (astronomy, geography, economics and foreign languages) and regional international Olympiads and their teachers were also rewarded. Specifically:


International Olympiads:


gold medalist - 56.25 million soums, teacher - 18.75 million soums;


silver medalist - 37.5 million soums, teacher - 13.125 million soums;


bronze medalist - 18.75 million soums, teacher - 11.25 million soums.


Regional International Olympiads:


gold medalist - 4.5 million soums, teacher - 18.75 million soums;


silver medalist - 3.0 million soums, teacher - 13.125 million soums;


bronze medalist - 2.25 million soums, teacher - 11.25 million soums were allocated.


Also, the winners of the international and regional international Olympiads will have the maximum score in their subject when entering higher educational institutions.


In addition, the qualification category of the teacher who prepared the student for the Olympiads will be elevated by one level, as well as the winners of the regional international Olympiad and the winners of the republican stage of the main Olympiad will receive a 100-percent monthly bonus to their salary if they teach the subject of their subsequent winning position as teachers in educational institutions.


For information: this year, the main Olympiads will be held in the regions and a total of 9 billion soums were allocated from the state budget to award winners of republican and international Olympiads (almost 11.5 times more than 780 million soums in 2019).
