No longer will income tax be levied on the money paid to the winners of the science Olympiad

Students, their teachers, and the leaders of national teams who have won republican and international Olympiads will be exempt from income tax on their monetary prizes and gifts.

Recently, during a presentation of educational proposals, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also discussed measures to improve work with talented youth.

It was noted that the number of awarded Olympiads will be increased to 28, and monetary prizes and gifts awarded to students, their teachers, and national team leaders who win republican and international science Olympiads will be exempt from income tax.

Currently, winners of international Olympiads and their teachers are awarded one-time cash prizes in the following amounts of the basic calculation amount (BCA):

• 1st place (gold medal) - 500 times (170 million soums);

• Teacher - 450 times (153 million soums);

• 2nd place (silver medal) - 300 times (102 million soums);

• Teacher - 250 times (85 million soums);

• 3rd place (bronze medal) - 200 times (68 million soums);

• Teacher - 150 times (51 million soums).

The teachers of winners in the republican stage of the main Olympiads are awarded one-time cash prizes in the following amounts of BCA:

• 1st place - 50 times (17 million soums);

• 2nd place - 35 times (11 million 900 thousand soums);

• 3rd place - 30 times (10 million 200 thousand soums).

Previously, winners of international science Olympiads and their teachers paid the following income tax:

• 1st place (gold medal) - 20 million 400 thousand soums;

• Teacher - 18 million 360 thousand soums;

• 2nd place (silver medal) - 12 million 240 thousand soums;

• Teacher - 10 million 200 thousand soums;

• 3rd place (bronze medal) - 8 million 160 thousand soums;

• Teacher - 6 million 120 thousand soums.

The teachers of winners in the republican stage of the main Olympiads paid income tax as follows:

• 1st place - 2 million 40 thousand soums;

• 2nd place - 1 million 428 thousand soums;

• 3rd place - 1 million 224 thousand soums.

Now, these amounts will remain fully with the winners. In other words, any monetary prizes and gifts awarded to the winners of republican and international Olympiads, their teachers, and the leaders of the national teams are completely exempt from income tax.
