Does the new school year begin on September 2nd?

The new academic year in all general secondary educational institutions of the republic may begin on September 2, 2025.

As is known, the Regulation "On General Secondary Education," approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 140 of March 15, 2017, provides for the start of the academic year from September 2.

It is also planned that the summer holidays will last from the day of the last stage of the control test until September 1.

The Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction announced that no additional days off have been established this year in connection with Independence Day, and the days off have not been moved to another day.

In this case, in connection with the celebration of "September 1 - Independence Day":

• 5 working days 3 days - August 30 (Saturday), August 31 (Sunday) and September 1 (Holiday);

• those working 6 working days will have 2 days off - August 31 (Sunday) and September 1 (Holiday).

Consequently, there are no reasons preventing the start of the new academic year in general education schools on September 2nd this year. However, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education has not yet provided official information about this.

As a reminder, last year, due to the coincidence of "September 1 - Independence Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan" with Sunday - a day off, this day off was moved to September 2, 2024, in accordance with Article 208 of the Labor Code.

Also, since September 3 was also designated as an additional day off, the new academic year had to begin on September 4. This means that the new academic year will begin this year within the established timeframe.
