Even ordinary schools need the position of "School Advisor."

We have entrusted school psychologists with the task of directing ordinary schoolchildren to professions and higher education. In presidential, creative, and specialized educational institutions, a special school advisor position has been introduced for this purpose.

What is a school counselor?

A school counselor is a profession that provides students with information about various professions, specialties, positions, chosen professions, and educational institutions where they can acquire specialties, guiding students towards higher education.

In presidential, creative, and specialized educational institutions, they primarily provide information about various international competitions and contests, as well as advice on referral to foreign universities.

Many think that a school counselor and a school psychologist are similar positions. But there is a big difference between them. While psychologists focus on students' psychological health, mental state, and emotional development, school counselors focus on students' academic success, professional development, and personal and social development, and most importantly, on students' career guidance and higher education.

When was the position of "School Advisor" introduced in presidential schools?

In 2021, the "School Counselor" program and its implementation mechanism were developed and implemented in Presidential Schools.

They were tasked with familiarizing students with information about prestigious universities in the most developed countries of the world, providing necessary recommendations for submitting documents and registering for universities, familiarizing them with professions in high demand and orienting them, as well as in cooperation with a school psychologist, assisting students in choosing the right direction in life according to their age, psychophysiological characteristics, abilities and talents.

Why hasn't this position been introduced in ordinary schools so far?

We want to introduce the experience of educational institutions in the system of the Agency of Specialized Educational Institutions to ordinary schools, but we are not introducing all the experience of these schools, but only the evaluation system itself.

Most interestingly, at that time, when the "School Advisor" program was introduced, it was said that if this program is successfully implemented in Presidential schools, the positive experience will be broadcast to general education schools. Unfortunately, this promise was not kept.

We constantly proclaim that the direction of students to higher education and professions is an urgent issue, but we have entrusted the implementation of this work to school psychologists with a low monthly salary.

In fact, we also know very well that we need school counselors very much, that it is a mistake to impose all the duties of school psychologists on them, and that is why we have already introduced this position in Presidential schools.

As for ordinary schools, as always, we try to easily get out of the situation because there are not enough funds in the state budget.

Why is the position of "School Advisor" necessary?

School counselors provide close assistance to students in setting and achieving their academic goals. They identify the students' abilities and strengths and develop unique approaches.

With their help, it will be easier for students to achieve success not only at school, but also in all spheres of life. Research has also proven this. For this reason, it is very important that school counselors be present in ordinary educational institutions.

After all, this experience was successfully implemented in Presidential schools, now it is time to broadcast this practice to ordinary schools.
