Is it possible to reduce the time of school lessons?

Our school has 2 shifts, and since the second shift is too long, it's getting dark, so can we reduce class time?

If we reduce lessons from 45 minutes to 40 minutes and set break times to 5 minutes, both students and teachers could go home earlier. Is there a legal way for this?

According to the current procedure, the duration of the lesson is set at 45 minutes. This norm cannot be changed at all without a special instruction from a higher organization.

Clause 25 of the "Regulations on General Secondary Education," approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 140 of March 15, 2017, defines specific deadlines for organizing the educational process in educational institutions.

That is, when organizing the educational process in educational institutions, the following deadlines are fully observed:

• duration of the academic year - 34 weeks (33 weeks for grades I);

• duration of the academic week - 6 days (5 days for grades I-IV by decision of the pedagogical council);

• duration of the lesson - 45 minutes;

• duration of the break between classes - 5-10 minutes (duration of the break between classes - 15-30 minutes).

The school administration must fully comply with the above-mentioned deadlines.

In conclusion, it is impossible to reduce the lesson time from 45 minutes to 40 minutes. However, the duration of breaks between lessons can be reduced to 5 minutes.
