There were reports on social networks that tuberculosis was detected in one of the general education schools in Tashkent.
The press service of the Ministry of Health reported the following on this situation.
It was found that M.S., an 11th-grade student of secondary school No. 59 in Shaykhantakhur district, applied to the 3rd Phthisiatric Dispensary in Tashkent on December 26, 2024.
According to the patient's sister M.D., his sister M.S. has been ill frequently in recent months. He only sought treatment at a private clinic. She was last referred to the 3rd Phthisiatric Dispensary after an ENT examination.
As a result of an X-ray examination in the dispensary, he was diagnosed with "inflammatory tuberculosis of the upper right lung, period of destruction, BP +" and the patient was immediately admitted to the Tashkent City Children's Tuberculosis Hospital.
Six people (2 children under 6 years old) who were in contact with M.S. at home were examined by X-ray at the phthisiatric dispensary No. 3 on December 27, 2024, and they were not diagnosed with active tuberculosis.
Also, under the supervision of the Tashkent City Department of Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, X-ray and diaskin tests were performed on students and teachers of secondary school No. 59 and a private school where the patient attended an additional lesson, who were in contact with M.S. and were at risk of contracting the disease.
During the examination, 1 student (A.A., born in 2008, a close friend of the patient M.S.) was diagnosed with "Focal tuberculosis of the upper right lobe of the lung" and was hospitalized.
Also, 3 students - A.A., R.M. and E.D. and 1 teacher B.U. began preventive treatment due to a predisposition to the disease.
In connection with the identified shortcomings, the Tashkent city department of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Committee issued an administrative report against the director of secondary school No. 59.
Currently, due to the capital reconstruction work being carried out in accordance with the state program at secondary school No. 59, elementary school students of this educational institution continue their education at secondary school No. 115, and high school students continue their education at secondary school No. 82 in the district.
On January 21 of this year, appropriate disinfection and stopping measures were repeatedly carried out at secondary school No. 82. On January 22, 2025, mass cleaning and ventilation were carried out.
Also, on January 23, appropriate disinfection and restraint measures were repeatedly organized in the secondary school No. 115.
