The monetary reward for the winners of prestigious international subject Olympiads will be increased fivefold.

Yesterday, February 14, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with young people at the Kuksaroy residence. Measures to further increase the effectiveness of work with youth and create broader opportunities for them were discussed.

At this meeting, the President also touched upon the issue of subject Olympiads and announced a fivefold increase in the amount of one-time monetary prizes for winners and prize-winners of prestigious international subject Olympiads.

What are the prestigious international olympiads?

• International Math Olympiad (IMO)

• International Physics Olympiad (IPhO)

• International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO)

• International Biology Olympiad (IBO)

• International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI)

Currently, winners of prestigious international Olympiads and their teachers and mentors are awarded one-time monetary prizes in the following amounts of the BRV:

• 1st place (gold medal) - 500 times (170 million soums);

• Teacher - 450 times (153 million soums);

• Head of the national team - 35 times (11 million 900 thousand soums)

• 2nd place (silver medal) - 300 times (102 million soums);

• Teacher - 250 times (85 million soums);

• Head of the national team - 25 times (8 million 500 thousand soums)

• 3rd place (bronze medal) - 200 times (68 million soums);

• Teacher - 150 times (51 million soums);

• Head of the national team - 15 times (5 million 100 thousand soums).

Now the amount of this monetary award to the winner of the prestigious international Olympiad is increased fivefold.

Earlier, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 30, 2024, No. PP-346, cash prizes and gifts paid to students, their teachers, and the heads of national teams who have won at the regional and republican stages of the main subject Olympiads, as well as international Olympiads, were exempt from income tax.

Also, starting from January 1, 2025, a procedure for incentivizing the heads of national teams participating in prestigious international olympiads based on the team's results will be introduced, and the heads of national teams will be awarded a one-time monetary reward in the amount of 35, 25, and 15 times the basic calculated value for each gold, silver, and bronze medal won at prestigious international olympiads.
