The number of teachers in schools has increased by 170 thousand.

Over the past 10 years, the number of teachers working in general secondary education organizations has increased by 170.9 thousand people. This was reported by the National Statistical Committee.

According to the data, at the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year, the total number of teachers (excluding part-time) working in general secondary education organizations operating in the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to 564.9 thousand people.

Number of teachers (excluding part-time) teaching in general secondary education organizations by year:

• At the beginning of the 2015/2016 academic year - 385 thousand people;

• At the beginning of the 2016/2017 academic year - 390.6 thousand people;

• At the beginning of the 2017/2018 academic year - 409.4 thousand people;

• At the beginning of the 2018/2019 academic year - 444.2 thousand people;

• At the beginning of the 2019/2020 academic year - 486.6 thousand people;

• At the beginning of the 2020/2021 academic year - 508 thousand people;

• At the beginning of the 2021/2022 academic year - 510 thousand people;

• At the beginning of the 2022/2023 academic year - 521.6 thousand people;

• At the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year - 547.8 thousand people;

• At the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year - 564.9 thousand people.

For reference: according to the 2023/2024 academic year, the number of schools in Uzbekistan has increased by 6.5% over the past 5 years and reached 10,750 units.
