10th-grade students are allowed to transfer their studies to technical schools

On October 23, 2025, the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Measures for Implementing Reforms in the Vocational Education System" was signed.

The decree allows 10th-grade students to transfer their studies to technical schools. The main target indicators for reforming the vocational education system by 2030 have also been defined.

Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, the following procedure for vocational guidance of youth is being introduced:

• Based on the "Professions Around Us" program, from the age of 5 in preschool educational organizations, children form their first ideas about various professions through games;

• Based on the "Alphabet of Professions" program, students of grades 1-4 of general secondary education organizations are given an understanding of the importance of various professions and their initial professional interests are developed;

• Based on the "World of Professions" program, the interests of students in grades 5-6 in professional activity and labor spheres are developed, and the basis for preparation for future professional choices is created;

• Based on the "My Future Profession" program, school consultants will identify the professional interests, abilities, and talents of students in grades 7-9 and organize work on their academic education or career guidance;

• Students are provided with more complete information about professions by showing videos, taking excursions to enterprises, and organizing meetings with professionals;

• Together with school psychologists, starting from the 7th grade, students' interest in the profession is determined based on their interests, abilities, personal characteristics, and temperament;

• Based on information about students' interest in the profession, a recommendation for individual career guidance is developed for each student, which is discussed with the parents of the students;

• Starting from 2028, admission to the technical school will be carried out based on the results of an exam conducted at the end of the 9th grade.
