An order has been signed by the Minister of Preschool and School Education “On organizing the admission process to Grade 1 of general secondary schools for the 2026–2027 academic year.”

According to the order, a list of districts (cities) where a public service for admission to Grade 1 of state general secondary schools will be introduced has been approved.

It is noted that the number of districts (cities) covered by this public service has increased from 64 to 135, and the number of schools from 1,956 to 5,689.

In the 2026–2027 academic year, admission to Grade 1 through the public service will be carried out via the Unified Interactive Public Services Portal (my.gov.uz) or the Ministry’s electronic services portal (my.maktab.uz) from June 20 to July 31 within the assigned micro-area, and from August 1 to August 31 for applicants outside the micro-area.

As in previous years, children will be admitted to Grade 1 in the year they turn seven (i.e., those born on or before December 31, 2019).

In districts where the public service is not implemented, admission to Grade 1 will be conducted by school principals (hereinafter referred to as the traditional format), and information about enrolled students will be entered into the Ministry’s electronic system (adm.maktab.uz).

To ensure transparency and openness, information related to Grade 1 admission (admission quotas, timelines, assigned micro-area, and a questionnaire to assess basic speaking skills if a non-state language of instruction is chosen) will be displayed in visible areas of the school.

After the admission period ends, schools are not allowed to accept students either from within or outside the assigned micro-area. The school principal bears personal responsibility for ensuring that the admission process is conducted in accordance with established procedures and in a transparent manner.

By June 10 of the current year:

  • assigned micro-areas will be reviewed based on school coverage and, if necessary, approved by decisions of district (city) administrations;

  • updated address data (mahallas, street names, and house numbers) for assigned micro-areas, as well as the Grade 1 admission plan, will be entered into the electronic platform;

  • the Grade 1 admission plan will be approved taking into account the number of school-age children in the micro-area, school capacity, availability of teachers, sanitary requirements, and textbook orders by language of instruction for the 2026–2027 academic year;

  • if the assigned school does not offer instruction in the chosen language, a nearby school will be assigned as the micro-area in the electronic system;

  • data on children admitted to schools operating in the traditional format, as well as to non-state educational institutions and schools under other ведомства (agencies), will be entered into the Ministry’s electronic system (adm.maktab.uz) on the same day;

  • measures will be taken to ensure that parents (applicants) submitting documents are received strictly according to the electronic queue.

By August 10, 2026, Presidential gift packages consisting of 12 types of school supplies will be fully delivered to district (city) departments of preschool and school education, based on the number of children admitted and registered in the electronic system (adm.maktab.uz).

By August 20, 2026, these Presidential gift packages will be distributed to general secondary schools in proportion to the number of admitted students recorded in the system.
