2,000 native-speaker teachers to be recruited for schools by september 2026

Since 2023, more than 500 foreign educators have been recruited to educational institutions as “native-speaker teachers” to teach English, German, and French. In the 2026–2027 academic year, this number is expected to increase to 2,000.

This was stated in Order No. 184 of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, dated May 26, 2026. The order also approved qualification requirements for foreign language teachers, procedures for selecting foreign specialists, and the responsibilities of school administrations in coordinating the activities of these specialists.

Notably, the order provides for the recruitment of foreign language teachers who are not native speakers as well as native-speaker teachers for general education schools.

To this end, the ministry will participate in international job fairs and take measures to attract foreign specialists in cooperation with relevant organizations.

The salaries of foreign specialists will be determined taking into account their work experience, professional qualifications, expertise, and other relevant factors.

Housing-related expenses for foreign language teachers will be covered from local budget funds. If local funding is unavailable or additional resources are required, requests will be submitted to the ministry through the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional departments, and the Tashkent City Department of Preschool and School Education.

It should be recalled that in 2026, funding allocated for recruiting native-speaker teachers to schools was increased by 2.8 times, with 700 billion Uzbek soums allocated from the state budget for this purpose.
