In the Netherlands, schoolchildren are prohibited from using mobile phones. According to the government website, the ban will come into effect on January 1, 2024. Along with phones, the use of smart watches and tablets in classes is also prohibited.
Exceptions are made only for digital literacy classes that require these devices and for students who must use these devices due to health or disability. Schools can set specific rules for bans in consultation with teachers, parents and students.
"Despite the fact that mobile phones have become almost an integral part of our lives, they have no place in classrooms. Students should be able to concentrate and study well. We know from scientific studies that mobile phones disrupt the educational process," said the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science, Robert Dijkgraaf, according to the government website ict.xabar.uz
