In the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 19, 2021 No. PP-5117, foreign languages with 15 national or equivalent internationally recognized certificates (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Persian, Pashto, Dari, Urdu, Hindi) are listed as foreign languages.
It is known that according to paragraph 9 of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 312 dated May 19, 2021, starting from the 2022-2023 academic year, a new applicant for the positions of teachers of foreign languages of state educational institutions must have a national or equivalent international certificate of at least B2 level.
Due to the shortage of foreign language teachers in schools in the 2022/2023 academic year, the requirement not to hire foreign language teachers who do not have a national or international B2 certificate is set to take effect from the 2023/2024 academic year.
By the 2024-2025 academic year, all foreign language teachers working in schools will be required to have a national or equivalent international certificate of at least B2 level.
So, now other foreign language teachers working at the school must have a national or equivalent international certificate of at least B2 level.
There are exceptions for some categories of foreign language teachers
According to the instruction letter of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 27/9-183 dated November 28, 2023, until the 2025/2026 academic year, as an exception, it is allowed to temporarily hire relevant specialists who do not have a B2 or higher level of foreign language proficiency certificate for national or international assessment systems to the position of a foreign language teacher in the regions approved by Appendix 1 of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 471 dated June 7, 2019.
In this case, by the 2025/2026 academic year, this category of teachers must have a certificate of at least B2 level on national or international assessment systems.
The employment contract with teachers who do not have a certificate of the relevant level within the established deadlines shall be terminated in the prescribed manner.
