Schools in Kyrgyzstan may be prohibited from using phones
The Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan is proposing to ban the use of telephones in schools and universities.
The Ministry of Education explained this by the dissemination of materials promoting violence, pornography, and the prevention of actions that undermine the reputation of the educational institution.
The draft resolution "On approval of the procedure for using mobile devices in educational organizations" has been submitted for public discussion. The document requires students and employees of schools and universities to switch their gadgets to silent mode at the entrance to the educational institution.
Students will have to turn off their mobile devices and leave them in designated places in the classrooms. The phone can only be used during breaks or in emergencies. Charging phones is also prohibited.
The Ministry of Education proposes to prohibit the use of the phone for the following purposes:
- dissemination of materials that promote violence, cruelty, or pornography;
- actions that damage the reputation of an educational institution;
- photo and video recording.
Teachers are also prohibited from using the phone during lessons unless it is related to the educational process.
It is noted that the developed rules are aimed at protecting the health of students, improving the socio-educational environment, as well as preventing the spread of hooliganism and inappropriate content.
