Great changes await music, physical education, and physical education teachers

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with a presentation on improving the quality of music, physical education, and military-patriotic subjects in schools on November 7. The presentation criticized the activities of music, physical education, and pre-conscription primary training teachers.
Music teachers
It was noted that 21% of music teachers in schools have secondary specialized education. Some of them cannot play musical instruments themselves. The reason is the lack of a practical professional development system for music teachers and the absence of cooperation with art schools in this regard. Graduates of cultural institutes are not accepted for teaching positions.
Therefore, several measures are being proposed to improve the quality of lessons in schools.
Specifically, the knowledge level and professional skills of music culture teachers will be assessed, and a professional development system will be established. New textbooks and procedures for assigning categories to teachers in this field will be developed.
Based on the positive experience of the "Turon School Theater," amateur artistic groups called "Iqtidor" will be created in schools. Graduates of higher educational institutions specializing in music and art will be allowed to work in schools.
Regional music and art schools will be affiliated with general education schools as base schools, and regular competitions will be held to identify talented students.
Physical education teachers
It has become apparent that there are no methodological manuals for physical education teachers. The selection of students for sports is not systematic.
Therefore, textbooks on physical education will be developed and curricula will be improved. A national assessment system will be established to determine the knowledge level and professional skills of teachers in this subject.
Starting from the next academic year, school sports clubs will be gradually established throughout the country. A new procedure for assigning categories to teachers and a sports rating system for schools will be developed in this direction.
Pre-Conscription Elementary Training Teachers
Currently, about 10,000 such teachers are working in schools. However, 27% of them are non-specialists. In 2,750 schools, the conditions for this subject are inadequate.
Consequently, the position of pre-conscription primary training teacher will now be transferred to the Ministry of Defense. From now on, military personnel from the Armed Forces reserve will be hired for this role.
New curricula and textbooks will be created for this subject. A "Courage School" will be established in each district and city based on one selected school.
