A school in Kumamoto, Japan, has purchased two mechanical assistants for children to keep in touch with their teachers and classmates. This was reported by Qalampir.uz publication.
According to Japanese officials, these robots will encourage absent students to attend classes remotely and eventually get them back to school.
According to the "Mainichi Shimbun" newspaper, by November of this year, two robots equipped with microphones, speakers and cameras are expected to appear in all classrooms in the city of Kumamoto, located in the southwest of Japan.
It is said that now, along with teachers, 1-meter-high autonomous robots will help children who do not come to school to learn remotely.
"Distance learning students connect to robots equipped with tablets through their laptops. This allows them to 'participate' in the same classes and discussions with their classmates. The robots do not just stay in classrooms. They move throughout the school and accompany the learners. 'ladi,' the newspaper wrote.
